We have an exciting new opportunity to join the in a role focusing on climate change and chemicals, mainly in relation to their impact on the water environmentAdapting to climate change is our top priority. Urgent and unprecedented action is needed now to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. It is clear that the climate emergency is starting to drive significant change. As part of this the Environment Agency is aiming to become a net zero organisation by 2030. We have made a strong commitment to act on climate change and have a Climate Change Delivery Plan. The post holder will help progress actions from the Climate Change Delivery Plan across the department. The work will be varied, but will focus upon the regulatory, water company and permitting part of our plan. You will be supported in the role by specialists within the team and wider organisation.This is an exciting opportunity to join a virtual delivery network of climate change. The post sits within the Environment & Business Directorate, in Water Land and Biodiversity. However, Chemicals is a cross cutting area of regulation, so you will work across the Environment Agency and potentially with Defra. You will be able to demonstrate: • Good interpersonal and team-working skills, being happy to deliver work as part of a team and on your own;• A proactive, self-motivated, positive attitude that delivers quality outcomes• An ability to effectively communicate and engage people - to motivate them to act and to resolve conflicts and challenges• Good influencing and communication skills• An ability to develop and share technical expertise with others in a collaborative way The post holder will ideally have experience working in climate change or in a role as a regulator. Experience in delivery of projects would be desirable
