We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.The Environment Agency oversees an expanding network of air quality and coastal flood forecasting assets, enabling us to deliver critical data to assist in the management of air quality and coastal flooding around the UK.This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but expanding team who will manage these assets and help shape the future of this reputationally significant area of the EA. Our monitoring network and associated assets are maintained by a number of different contractors. As a Contracts Officer, you will be asked to oversee the delivery of new and existing air quality and coastal flood forecasting contracts, working closely with stakeholders to ensure we provide an exceptional service, operating safely, and offering good value for money. Working in the EA will offer you an opportunity to engage and develop yourself beyond the day job, working with a diverse and inclusive workforce that support each other to succeed. We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic self-starter with a keen eye for detail, who is willing to learn in a science-based field. Candidates should be willing to work at pace, working closely with the team and on their own to deliver results:- Experience in contract management is desirable - Experience in financial management and procurement is desirable.- Experience in asset management is desirable.- Air Quality knowledge or demonstration of ability to work in a science-based field is desirable.- Knowledge of CDM legislation is desirableFull training will be provided, along with the opportunity to participate in formal contract management training through the Government Commercial College, along with a wealth of other training and development opportunities within your role.
