This post is part of an exciting expansion of our Academic Quality and Standards team within Academic Registry, a key central professional service department.
We’re looking for an Assistant Registrar (Academic Quality & Standards) to join our friendly and expert colleagues to manage the responsive delivery of cyclical education activity and strategic projects. The role-holder will play an important role in strengthening and developing policies, procedures, and regulations, and overseeing academic quality assurance and standards across the University.
About the role
You will work independently, and collaboratively with Academic Registry, academic, administrative, and professional services colleagues, to develop and implement quality assurance and standards policy.
Priorities will vary from cyclical service delivery and improvement, to the delivery of policy recommendations and projects. The role holder will focus on academic quality and standards areas such as:Delivering strategic education projects. Identifying and monitoring risk and risk mitigation for education provision. Developing and maintaining policy frameworks and student and assessment regulations. Ensuring that policies and procedures comply with statutory requirements and are reflective of sector good practice.Providing and managing training and guidance provision for colleagues in support of quality assurance policy, process, and good practice.
There will be significant opportunity for engagement with the wider University and higher education sector, and for personal professional development in the area of academic quality assurance and standards.
You will have an expert understanding of regulatory requirements and key considerations within UK higher education. You will actively work to build excellent relationships with team members and stakeholders within Academic Registry and across the University.
As a manager, you will enjoy supporting the professional development of you and your team, and you will draw from your experiences of positively supporting colleagues through change. You will be passionate about managing an responsive service to a range of colleagues.
You will have a collaborative and consultative approach, and a strong interest in continuous improvement. You will be confident in making evidence-based recommendations and decisions about change, and be committed to seeing these changes through to implementation and monitoring.
You will bring your excellent planning and communications skills together to effectively deliver priorities and projects across our services.
The team are currently following a hybrid working pattern that requires a minimum of one day a week on campus (currently Wednesdays), with flexible on-campus availability as needed depending on activities each week.
