Care and Support Assistant – Part Time

We are seeking a Care and Support Assistant to provide one-to-one personal care and support to our residents at Avalon Court.

Located on the Ipswich waterfront just 10 minutes from the town centre, Avalon Court consists of 14 self-contained apartments for adults with physical or learning disabilities.

Our Care and Support Assistants provide tailored support on a one-to-one basis. This will include personal care, assisting with activities within the community including days out, shopping and attending appointments as well as helping with finances such as paying bills. Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to build rapport and a trusting, long lasting, relationship with our resident.

The role of Care and Support Assistant will include:

Providing a high quality, personalised care and support service Completing care plans and handover notes to a high standard Administering medication Supporting residents with domestic tasks such as vacuuming, laundry and shopping Helping residents to arrange and attend appointments i.e. with their GP Promoting a positive culture by engaging with residents and encouraging social interaction to prevent isolation Encouraging residents to become active members of their local community Promoting safe practices and undertaking risk assessments

Skills and experiences:

A personalised approach to care, and ideally some experience with learning disabilities and complex or high needs Enthusiastic and flexible, with a strong “can-do” attitude Strong organisational skills, as well as functional literacy and numeracy Ability to react quickly to changing priorities whilst working to deadlines and targets NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards Good communication skills allowing you to build strong relationships with our residents
