About the Role:

The Carer Relief service plays a vital role in supporting individuals living with dementia and their dedicated carers. The core mission is to provide carers with much-needed quality time away from their demanding role, offering support that can range from a few hours to a full day, tailored to the carer's specific needs. A critical component of this service is the Carer's Emergency Cover. In this capacity, you will be instrumental in ensuring the cared-for person can remain safely and comfortably in their own home environment during unforeseen emergencies that require the carer to be away.

Key Responsibilities and Work Structure:

  • Community Support: You will be providing direct support to individuals in their homes, enabling carers to take essential breaks.
  • Emergency Response: A crucial aspect of the role involves providing immediate support during unplanned carer emergencies.
  • Flexible Hours: The position is contracted for 20 hours per week, covering priority and social visits. This involves a 7-day rolling rota, offering a degree of predictability within a dynamic service.
  • On-Call Commitment: In addition to contracted hours, you will participate in an on-call rota, with a maximum of 12 hours per standby period. This on-call duty is financially compensated with a standby allowance, plus additional pay for any hours actively worked when called upon.
  • Geographic Coverage: This role covers the entire East Riding area, making **driving and having access to a car for work purposes essential.**
