This role is based in Jaguar Land Rover’s brand new hi-tech Global Digital Development Centre in the heart of Manchester, where you will be working alongside the best engineers in the world.

We are seeking an experienced and results driven SRE Line Manager with a passion for quality and exceptional soft skills to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be able to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with longer-term planning and possess the ability to deliver in a complex, highly demanding environment.
As a resilient, energetic, and enthusiastic individual, you will be able to deliver results under pressure while responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs. You will be able to challenge existing thinking in a positive way while building credibility and trust through experience and personal style. Effective communication skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas are a must, as is the ability to actively lead, develop and support team members.
In addition, the ideal candidate will be curious, innovative, and thrive on new challenges. They will be a confident public speaker and comfortable facilitating group conversations. They will inspire others while mentoring and coaching them effectively and will be transparent and open to feedback.
Key Responsibilities:Work with Product Owners and key stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met. Promote the latest SRE practices, standards and processes and work with the Engineering Leads to deliver the strategic SRE vision. Define and represent the SRE practice at knowledge and engagement events and take a leading role in developing the SRE community and good practice. Develop and support our SRE capability by creating viable and rewarding career paths and recruiting talent to the organisation.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Essential:In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in specialist technologies, complex systems and tools and processes Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools. Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders. Extensive experience managing a medium to large team of engineers. Extensive knowledge and experience of Site Reliability Engineering practices and principles Excellent verbal and written communication skills Collaborative skills - being open to pair programming and working closely with engineers in cross functional teams.
