Becoming Chief of Staff at the OPCC is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team supporting the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) to help make Thames Valley a safer place to live, work and raise a family.

Working closely with the PCC, the successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering his Police & Criminal Justice Plan. Working with partners in local government, criminal justice and the voluntary sector the Chief of Staff will be involved in a wide ranging community safety agenda.

If successful applicants will also support the PCC in scrutinising the work of Thames Valley Police - the largest non-metropolitan police force in England and Wales, covering the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire and serving a population of in excess of 2 million people.

The successful candidate will have:

Senior management experience and a strong understanding of corporate governance.An understanding of the democratic process and the legal, financial and political workings of an elected governance body.A track record of building and developing successful working relationships with key stakeholdersA desire to make a difference to communities across Thames Valley by contributing the fight against crime.

Please note that a full UK driving licence is considered essential for this role as capability to travel across the Force is required, in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.

The recruitment process will be in two stages. In the first round of interviews, candidates will be asked to prepare a presentation in advance in order to demonstrate their research and analytical capabilities. This will be followed by a competency based interview. Candidates who successfully pass to the second stage will be asked to make a second presentation, with only limited preparation time given on the day. This will be followed by a further final interview. It is anticipated that the first round of interviews will take place on 21st & 24th June, with the second round taking place on 29th & 30th June.
