Role overview:
The Buyer will drive year on year cost reductions via negotiation, benchmarking and competitive sourcing. The buyer will work on both Commodity and Program related purchasing to ensure program targets are achieved via the most cost-effective suppliers.
This position is based in Coventry, UK.
Main Responsibilities:
Drive year on year cost reductions in line with corporate targets. Develop commodity strategy and manage it in line with market change (FX fluctuation, material price development, advances in technology, etc.) Initiate cost savings ideas, initiate and participate in lean assessment activities in the program, initiate benchmark as well as insource / outsource analysis when applicable, work with plant logistics to optimise freight and packaging issues Support local plants/operations in any supplier-related issues (deliveries, commercial, etc.) Manage material economics (CPI/CPR) & Exchange Rate related issues Develop Lear Should Cost Models with suppliers Negotiate Long Term Agreements Test global markets to ensure lowest cost of sourced components. Create and issue release of RFQ/ECN for sourcing of new product and subsequent design changes Source suppliers based on issued RFQ/ECN’s to support program deliverables
Key skills and Qualifications:
Experience in Purchasing Experience within the automotive sector will be a plus Proficiency in English, a second foreign language is preferable Very good MS Office knowledge Excellent communication and negotiation skills Team-orientated and able to work independently Ability to Travel in the UK /EU
