The role As a Communications Operator you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be working in a small but highly effective team where the highest of standards will be expected from both a technical and behavioural perspective. You will need to collaborate with Customers, Service Users and Babcock staff to achieve results.

The role involves operating Long Range communications systems in support of mobile units, you will also operate other associated systems in support of service delivery.

Day to day, you’ll be:

Operating all applicable site communications equipment Monitoring and reporting asset status Maintaining continuity of critical communications systems Monitoring ‘Remote Working’, site safety equipment Maintaining communications when faults occur Engineering circuit building for services Assisting in first line maintenance of communications systems Maintaining accurate records for all operational and engineering occurrences Ensuring the Health & Safety of self and others who may be affected by work activities

Essential experience of the Communications Operator:

Proven ability in a Communications, Control room or Helpdesk Operator role Experience working in Radio Communications (particularly HF) is desirable A full UK driving licence Be a self-motivated individual who wants to make an impact on a daily basis Real time decision making and problem solving abilities A good level of computer literacy with proficiency in MS Products Ability to understand and follow procedures

Qualifications for the Communications Operator:

ONC / NVQ or 'A' Level in a science or technical subject or equivalent relevant experience

You must be a sole UK national who holds, or is eligible to achieve SC security clearance. DV security clearance must be in progress before starting in this role.
