The Contracts Manager role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The difference our new Contracts Manager will make As a Contracts Manager you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
Day to day, you’ll Key duties will include:Drive commercial excellence across contracts and projects, to protect Babcock with regard to the acceptability of terms and conditions Provide guidance, advice, diligence and instruction supporting the tendering, negotiating and placing of both prime contracts with the MoD customer and subcontracts through the supply chain.

You will have experience in a similar commercial management role, encompassing contract administration, liaison with the supply chain and knowledge of NEC4 contracts. Broad knowledge of building and construction Literate in IT applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook) Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a subject related to Quantity Surveying, building, business, business law or commercial law. CIPS and/or IACCM membership is advantageous Exposure to MoD contractual terms and conditions is also highly desirable, but not essential
