Job at SSE in Perth, Perth and Kinross

Delivery Lead - Energy Markets - Perth

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Delivery Lead to join SSE's Energy Markets (EM) division, the commercial engine driving value creation in wholesale energy markets as SSE transitions towards a net-zero future. EM is at the forefront of asset optimisation, route-to-market strategies, and risk management across all SSE's diverse business units, from wind and hydro to thermal and distributed energy portfolios. This role offers a chance to be part of a critical centre of excellence, leveraging expertise in trading, risk management, energy economics, and advanced analytics to shape the future of energy.

What the Opportunity Offers:

  • Impactful Role: You will be instrumental in leading the end-to-end delivery of complex product roadmaps within Agile frameworks. This means directly influencing the success of projects that are vital to SSE's vision of becoming a leading net-zero energy company.
  • Financial Reward & Benefits: A competitive salary range of £58,100 - £87,100 is offered, complemented by a performance-related bonus. Beyond this, SSE provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family, including health and wellbeing services, technology and transport loans, and generous family leave entitlements.
  • Flexible Working: With a permanent, full-time contract, SSE embraces a "Flexible First" approach, offering options to support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Career Growth in a Dynamic Sector: The energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation. Working within SSE's Energy Markets provides exposure to cutting-edge technologies, data analytics, and strategic decision-making, fostering significant professional development in a high-growth industry.
  • Contribution to a Greener Future: Be part of an organisation at the forefront of the green energy revolution, contributing to ambitious projects like the world's largest offshore wind farm and substantial investments in homegrown energy.

Key Considerations for Potential Candidates:

  • Agile Expertise is Crucial: The role demands a proven track record of leading and delivering projects using best-practice Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean). You'll need to demonstrate experience in embedding these processes and fostering an Agile culture across portfolios.
  • Strong Financial Acumen: Candidates must possess robust financial planning and control skills, with a demonstrable ability to manage budgets, maintain accurate forecasts, and ensure delivery within fiscal constraints. Maximising business value through effective financial management is key.
  • Operational Resilience & Security Focus: A deep understanding of operational resilience and security is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring systems and services are robust, secure, and compliant with cyber protection standards, including incident reporting.
  • Leadership & Team Development: The ability to foster high-performing, collaborative teams is paramount. This involves promoting effective use of Agile ceremonies and aligning team efforts with organisational values and delivery goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are vital for influencing priorities and navigating complex environments. While experience in energy or financial trading is a bonus, adaptability and strong interpersonal abilities are non-negotiable.
  • Commitment to Net Zero: A genuine interest in and commitment to SSE's ambitious net-zero vision will be a significant advantage, aligning your career aspirations with the company's strategic direction.

This Delivery Lead position presents a significant opportunity for seasoned professionals to make a tangible impact within a leading energy company, contributing to a sustainable future while advancing their own career in a challenging and rewarding environment.
