WHAT TO EXPECT The primary purpose of the role is lead and drive a number of IPS (Integrated Production System) Digitalisation projects and understanding real use cases, help design and develop solutions that meet the customers’ requirements which in turn will support digitalisation of our Manufacturing footprint. Some examples would include, artificial intelligence, computer vision, virtual reality and technology integration across all of our Manufacturing locations.

This role will contribute to the development of new technologies and features up to ‘Concept Ready’ where it is then handed over to the mainstream Manufacturing functions. The Research function focus on 5 key research themes, these pillars are Smart, Connected, Capable, Clean and Desirable. Typical research areas are: Autonomous Inspection, Human Machine Interface, Machine Learning, Virtual/Augmented/Mixed reality, Digital Experiences, Computer vision, Ergonomics, Tracking systems, Cloud services.

You’ll be involved in developing proof of concepts and requires knowing coding, cloud networking, multi-threading approaches and user interface/experience basics. Also, have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple key stakeholders internally and externally, Industrial Digital Operations and the Business Excellence teams being the primary ones.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Delivery of relevant research technologies and associated projects to ensure robust processes are achieved on time and to Engineering Specification. Work with cross function and operational teams to ensure objectives and activity plans are captured in the overall project plans Contribute to the resolution of key technical and strategic challenges Work on the required technologies and features suitable for the future Develop of Proof-of-Concept technologies with support from key suppliers Supervise the team to record all data, ensure adherence to relevant procedures Work on the identification of the project roadmaps and work on assigned strategic Research Manage projects towards the development of required technologies and features via the Technology Creation Development System process Ensure new and innovative ideas are put forward for patent filling Provide technical support on projects when handing over to mainstream engineering Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested Support wider team collecting and preparing data for artificial intelligence training

WHAT YOU’LL NEED Essential:

Knowledge of AI (artificial intelligence) with some experience of implementation Experience with data labelling and annotation process Knowledge and practical experience with real time engine Unity Experience of C# and/or python coding language Knowledge with JSON and/or XML formats Experience with any CAD modelling software (Blender, Catia, Autodesk, Robcad etc.) Knowledge of Virtual reality / Augmented reality / Mixed reality

Desirable:

Any additional coding language Knowledge of cloud services such as storing data, BQ, microservices, encryption and VMs. Experience with real time Engine Unreal Knowledge tracking system building an avatar Understanding DIY electronics – Raspberry Pi, Arduino Wider Systems knowledge & Understanding – SAP, GMES, PLM etc Knowledge of Manufacturing processes – IPS (Integrated Production System) Understanding of MQTT protocols Knowledge with JSON and/or XML formats HTML, SharePoint & PowerApps knowledge
