Working with government, local authorities, business, specialist groups and local communities, we are committed to promoting equality and inclusion in all we do, making the environment a better place for people and wildlife.As an engagement officer you will be at the heart of this work and can expect to be involved in the following:• Consulting with communities on the environmental impacts of industry, business and infrastructure projects• Acting as an advisor on engagement plans and techniques, influencing engagement where necessary and advocating for early and timely engagement• Giving the Environment Agency a clear voice and message, protecting and enhancing our reputation• Supporting the whole customer experience including commissioning responses, drafting briefings and tailoring engagement plans • Supporting our response to incidents, as a Category One Responder. You will be able to demonstrate:• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Experience of engaging effectively, using a range of appropriate methods and techniques• Building and maintaining effective relationships and networks inside and outside your organisation• How effective engagement can contribute to behaviour change• Success working in a fast paced and changeable environment with an ability to prioritise a busy workload and maintain excellent attention to detail• Confidence with new technologies to support engagement in a changing world• Self-motivation; someone who work well within a team environment or under their own initiative• An understanding of one of more of the following: public consultation; equalities analysis; internal engagement
