The role
As a Engineering Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The development of the Babcock T23 Refit Support Group (RSG) team is an exciting opportunity for engineering technicians to maintain and repair a wide range of equipment and systems in a dynamic and varied environment.
Day to day, you’ll work on vessels, maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, so they’re fit for service. It involves regenerating systems and equipment to full operational condition so they’re ready for tests and trials. It’s a great opportunity to develop new skills while working with stakeholders and keeping them up to speed.
Essential experience of the Engineering Technician:
Ability to write clear defect reports and keep maintenance management systems up to date. Good engineering and professional standards. Agile and adaptable, with a proactive attitude. Experience as an RN engineering technician or seaman would be an advantage. However, this is not essential, as long as you have a background in electrical, mechanical or seamanship equipment and system maintenance and repair.This role is based onsite full time at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Qualifications for the Engineering Technician:
Qualified electrical or mechanical technician. City and Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
