As an Environment Officer, you’ll be the frontline of environmental protection in the West Midlands. You’ll help to create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for people and wildlife. You’ll focus on preventing pollution to rivers and waterways, regulating businesses across a range of urban and rural sites. Water is abstracted from our rivers and groundwater across the area – you’ll help ensure this is done in a sustainable way.Sometimes you’ll have to take tough action and you’ll need to investigate environmental offences. You may need to give evidence in court. The job is extremely varied, vital and, at times, challenging. You’ll work with business customers to help them operate legally; while at other times you’ll be enforcing the law to ensure operators improve their performance.Based in one of our Area offices, you’ll be part of an operational team focusing on Land & Water issues, responding to environmental emergencies and incidents.We recognise the challenges that people with protected characteristics may experience on the job market.
