We’re looking for a freshwater ecological Environmental Monitoring Officer to work as part of a team to help carry out and deliver our environmental monitoring and investigations programme. The role will include field based ecological survey work, laboratory analysis of ecological samples, data analysis, interpretation and reporting using both standard and bespoke computer applications and tools. The role also services information requests to supply this data to our customers. The work provides a good foundation for developing freshwater ecological and water quality skills. The high-quality data that we produce is essential in contributing to the delivery of our monitoring programme, required to fulfil our national and local legislative commitments. We are seeking an Environmental Monitoring Officer with freshwater ecological field and office-based experience. You’ll be qualified to a higher education level in a relevant discipline and possess ability and/or knowledge of: • Ecological l survey work for freshwater macro-invertebrates and macrophytes;• an elementary standard of identification and analysis of freshwater aquatic macro-invertebrate specimens;• data analysis and interpretation using biological and chemical metrics and indices for use in investigations and reports; Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills, attention to detail, report writing, proficiency in word, excel and database management, analysis & problem solving and a passion for the freshwater environment. You must possess a full driving licence and be able to swim confidently.
