Do you want to help us, our partners and communities, to be better prepared for flooding?You will have an opportunity to experience the varied workstreams of Flood and Coastal Risk Management teams in the River Thames catchment.You will join a friendly, high achieving team with a passion for making a difference by protecting our environment and reducing the impacts of flooding to people and property. You can expect to:• Regulate proposed works in and around main rivers by producing Flood Risk Activity Permits for internal and external customers.• Provide flood risk advice and guidance to support appropriate, sustainable development by responding to planning applications.• Work directly with Local Councils to support the delivery of their flood risk duties and projects.• Gain experience of our other activities including; o Engaging with Residents, Community groups and Partner organisations across the environmental sector. o Deliver improvements to flood risk information and mapping. o Environment Agency flood risk project management and delivery. o Support the organisations response to flooding and other environmental incidents.The role will allow you to work with different teams and departments within the organisation to help protect, preserve and enhance our environment. You will be well organised and have excellent attention to detail to ensure our work is delivered to a high standard. You will be a self-starter and a quick-learner with a strong customer-focus. You will be able to work as part of a team and individually, prioritising an interesting and varied workload. You will be interested in the environment and have a passion for making a difference. You will be good at working under pressure, working flexibly and at pace, and delivering outcomes.Experience of the principles of flood risk and flood risk management, the Town and Country Planning Act and Geographic Information Systems would be beneficial but not essential and further training and development will be provided.
