On successful completion, you will be able to register as a Technician member of Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM)This hands–on role involves:• Working together as a team and being outside in all weathers;• Using a variety of tools and equipment to carry out asset maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, channel clearance and small construction projects such as flood defence repairs or installation of fencing• Deploying sandbags temporary barriers, mobile pumps and pollution equipment;• Carrying out regular checks and inspections of equipment, including tools, protective personal equipment, vehicles and plant;• Communicating with customers, land owners, partners, members of the public and colleagues;• Participating in our incident response on-call 24 hour emergency rota to respond to emergencies, during the working day and out-of-hours.For more info on working with us see https://environmentagencycareers.co.uk/ Essential:• Have a positive and enthusiastic approach with a ‘can do’ attitude working as part of a team.• Be well organised keeping your tools, equipment and PPE in top condition.• Have good communication skills to work with customers and partners.• Have the necessary practical ability, an understanding in environmental awareness and as a hands-on approach.• Literacy and numeracy skills.• Have the ability to carry out tasks and answer queries effectively.• Be competent in using IT devices, such as iPads and willing to learn in house systems.• Undertake specialist training when required.• Hold a driving licenceDesirable:• Some experience in asset operation or maintenance/incident response/use of equipment/tools (however full training will be given).• An understanding of site health and safety requirements• You'll be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents inside and outside working hours;
