Field Operations - Team Member

There are 11 Vacancies in the Field Teams across Leigh, Sale and Winsford depots. There is also 1 Vacancy in the Confined Spaces team at Leigh depot.As a Field Team Member, you will be working as part of a diverse team working in and around watercourses to operate and maintain our flood defence assets to provide a high standard of flood protection. You will be required to work efficiently, effectively and safely to a high standard.This is an outdoor role working in all weather conditions carrying out tasks such as grass cutting, tree works, removing blockages from watercourses and maintaining debris screens.You will provide a response to flood and environmental incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by completing regular training and exercising which will include deploying temporary barriers, sandbags, mobile pumps and pollution equipment.You will carry out regular checks and inspections on equipment, tools, personal protective equipment and vehicles.As part of the Confined Spaces team, you will be required to complete the above work in Confined Spaces plus complete inspections of culverts and the use of Breathing Apparatus You must have a positive attitude to learning and enjoy working as part of a team. You will be organised in keeping your PPE, Tools and Equipment in excellent condition. You will need good communication skills to work with our customers and partners.You will need a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.Literacy and numeracy skills are required.You must possess a valid UK driving licence and be able to swim Be competent in using IT devices such as iPads, iPhones and be willing to learn new IT skillsYou will be required to undertake regular specialist training as part of your incident response role and the Level 3 Water Environment Worker apprenticeship. This ensures that you will learn with the right competencies to be a professional asset operator, maintainer and incident responder in line with our ambition to create a better place for people and the environment.
