Fisheries Technical Specialist - Norfolk

The Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology team are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Fisheries Technical Specialist, based in Norfolk, who can provide expert advice, guidance, training and technical support across the Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk area.You will demonstrate effective leadership to Fisheries Officers within the team, providing a technical steer around fisheries management advice, partnership working and incident management planning and response. You will also manage and provide specialist input into a range of projects. You will represent the area at a national level, reporting performance as required and disseminating information to ensure teams are kept up to date. You will take responsibility for specific and high-profile areas of work, anticipate the issues and ensure decisions are made on sound technical grounds.This role is as much about working with people as it is about working with nature. You will proactively engage staff across the business, communicating with colleagues internally and externally, to successfully build trusted networks and strong partnerships, to maximise delivery.You will keep up to date on changing legislation and best practice in order to inform internal priorities and direction.For more info on working with us see https://environmentagencycareers.co.uk/ You will;- be qualified to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline.- demonstrate capable and strategic engagement with relevant individuals, groups and organisations to make tangible environmental improvements across the area.- have experience in applying your expert knowledge of the management of fisheries and the angling use of waters locally, to maintain, improve and develop fisheries.- have experience in responding to fisheries incidents, such as pollution events and dry weather periods, and will have a good understanding around the planning for such events.- have effective technical leadership qualities to coach/mentor others to improve their capabilities.- be able to remain positive and focused, even when there are conflicting demands.- be innovative to find efficiencies and work well with the team to embed any changesA full driving licence is essential.Please also read the candidate pack and role profile.
