We are the Environment Agency, we work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to tackle the impacts of climate change.This role supports the Thames Tidal Walls and Embankments Asset Performance Team manage Flood and Coastal Risk Management assets reducing the risk of flooding to London.Working closely with the team, the wider business, and externally, you will take a hands-on approach to asset management at Thames Tidal Defences, helping to ensure work is delivered to the required standards.Key aspects of the role:• Liaising with colleagues across the area to ensure a one team approach for the tidal Thames patch from Teddington to Dartford• Carry out inspection/enforcement activities• Provide planning advice/guidance to external parties working adjacent to the tidal defences• Work closely with other internal teams to improve asset management activities• Senior User for capital projects – working closely with the integrated delivery team (TEAM 2100)As you develop your understanding of our inspection/enforcement processes and your appreciation of the advice given to developers as part of our role as a statutory consultee to planning submissions, you will provide detailed technical information for colleagues, professional partners and customers when required. • The activities above will require first-class communication skills and a positive teamwork ethic• You will be able to build relationships with colleagues from all departments• You will be self-motivated, with the ability to effectively prioritise/manage multiple tasks.• You will have a good understanding of site health and safety/will know the importance of safe systems of work• Commitment to develop your knowledge of Construction, Design and Management Regulations (CDM)• An appreciation of inspection and enforcement of our own, and third party owned assets will be beneficial• A degree level qualification or equivalent experience gained in a related field; for example, environment management, civil engineering, asset management or project management would be desirable
