This is an exciting opportunity for you to join us in supporting people and communities to be prepared for, and resilient to, flooding. We are seeking someone skilled and motivated to support the delivery of our flood incident management service and resilience engagement in Hertfordshire and North London. You will have a varied role which supports a range of activities within our Flood Resilience Team. Working with a range of internal colleagues, external customers and professional partners you will:- maintain and improve our flood warning network, data and systems- support the planning and delivery of engagement with local communities; increasing awareness of flood risk, and knowledge of appropriate actions to take in response to flooding- maintain internal incident management procedures and support the training and exercising of our staff- contribute to multi-agency preparedness to respond to flooding- support our wider incident response to flood and environmental incidents in line with your skills and experience. You will:- be confident working with a range data and information types- be an effective communicator; able to use a range of styles to address different audiences (experience of community engagement is desirable)- be well organised; able to prioritise a varied workload, maintain attention to detail and ensure work is delivered to a high standard- be self-motivated; working well in a team environment and under your own initiative- have competent IT skills (experience of using GIS software beneficial, but the capacity to learn new software quickly is of greater importance)- have an understanding of flood risk and incident management, including an awareness of the Environment Agency’s role in managing and responding to incidents - a commitment to a culture that promotes equality, diversity and inclusion; health safety and wellbeing, and to tackling the impacts of the climate and ecological emergency through your work
