As a flood and coastal risk management officer, you’ll play an important role in delivering outcomes towards our ambition of a nation resilient to flooding and coastal change. Key areas of responsibility will include: • The collection, analysis, and interpretation of data.• Flood risk mapping.• Managing a statutory workload including environmental permits and planning consultations. • Positively working with our customers and partners in supporting the provision of flood risk information.• Providing technical support for advisors and senior advisors.• Taking part in incident management when flooding occurs We are looking for people with a relevant degree or transferable skills with an interest in flood and coastal risk management and passion for the environment. You’ll have: A willingness to learn about flood and coastal risk management. An ability to work on your own initiative, in teams and with customers ensuring you develop and maintain good working relationships. Be organised and able to manage your own time effectively. Good communication skills to be able to work with a diverse range of people. A desire to lead your own learning and development. Flexible to the needs of the organisation and open to new ways of working. A positive and adaptable attitude, who responds well to constructive feedback. Ideally, a working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and some understanding of one or more of the following – hydrology, river geomorphology, modelling.
