As a flood and coastal risk management officer, you’ll play an important role in both technically supporting less experienced colleagues and delivering outcomes towards our ambition of a nation resilient to flooding and coastal change. Key areas of responsibility include: The collection, analysis, and interpretation of data. Flood risk mapping. Managing a statutory workload including environmental permits and planning consultations. Positively working with our customers and partners in supporting the provision of flood risk information. Providing technical training (statutory/evidence) and advice for less experienced officers. Providing technical support for advisors and senior advisors. Taking part in incident management when flooding occurs We are looking for people with experience of working within the flood and coastal risk management sector looking to move onto the next stage of their career. You’ll have: A good understanding of the impact of flooding including how rivers and catchments work. An ability to work on your own initiative, in teams and with customers using good communication skills to develop and maintain relationships. A good working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). An ability to write flood risk environmental permits, respond to planning applications, and customer contact enquiries. A track record of delivering work by planning, tracking, gathering, and maintaining data/information. A desire to lead your own learning and development including support the development of others. Flexible to the needs of the organisation and open to new ways of working.
