Part time – up to 30 hours per week
In this interesting role, you will provide administrative support within the Forensic Laboratories, ensuring the integrity and continuity of forensic evidence and presenting a professional interface between FIU and its customers in support of the organisational requirement to secure detections and convictions.
The duties will be mainly handling and movement of forensic exhibits and samples, and the input of data onto databases. In addition carrying out general clerical duties such as call handling, filing, emailing, minute taking and photocopying. There will also be a requirement to triage cases and confirming they are acceptable for submission. The role will also require participation in the cleaning of the forensic laboratories, stock management and organising the maintenance and calibration of equipment.
You will have recent experience of working in an administrative role and working to deadlines along with proven computer skills and the ability to interrogate and accurately input data from a variety of sources. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work as part of a team.
The successful candidate may be expected to undertake the established psychological screening process as the role may include handling images/items of an unpleasant nature.
Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting. There will also be a requirement to provide an elimination DNA sample to be held on the laboratory’s Staff Elimination Database.
