In this role you will be mainly site-based, ensuring our maintenance programme is effectively and safely delivered: you will understand safe systems of work and ensure your teams deliver work safely, effectively and according to the risk assessments and method statements provided. You will support and monitor the work of the team to ensure everyone remains safe and the work is of a good quality. You will lead on-site problem solving for your team, consider different approaches and decide on the most appropriate solution. You will be a professional and confident leader of our incident response teams – protecting our community’s homes and livelihoods through the operation of our Flood Risk Management Assets. You will be part of our incident response rota. Your team will be responsible for the maintenance of flood risk management assets: grass cutting on flood defence embankments, maintaining watercourses through weed removal, repairing structures and ensuring they are ready for operation in an incident. You should have the necessary practical skills and an understanding in environmental awareness as well as a hands on approach; Some experience in asset operation or maintenance/incident response/use of equipment/tools is an advantage (however full training will be provided); You will be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours; You should have an understanding of site health and safety requirements; Literacy and numeracy skills are required; Have the ability to carry out tasks and answer queries effectively; Competent in using IT devices, such as an iPad, and willing to learn our in-house systems; Undertake specialist training as and when required; People management or leadership skills are desirable.
