As part of this transformation, HMCTS has recently published its Data Strategy, setting out its ambitions to become a truly data-driven organisation. The Finance, Governance and Performance (FGP) directorate provides a pivotal role in supporting this strategy and empowering senior leaders to make strategic, data driven business decisions.
The Analysis and Performance team plays a key role. We provide HMCTS and the Judiciary with timely, accurate and accessible operational management information and analysis that underpins strategic and operational decisions. To support this, we are investing in a new cloud-based strategic data platform and transitioning to using Power BI and R for the delivery of data and analysis.
Job Description
We are looking for someone to lead and drive forward our Reporting and Analytics team. This team is responsible for ensuring that HMCTS can efficiently and effectively access the data and reporting that it needs, both at a strategic and an operational level, delivered via:
the development, maintenance and improvement of management information reporting dashboards across the full range of services that HMCTS provides,an inquiries service that helps our internal and wider government customers access and use our data assets.We are also looking for someone who will expand the value-added insight that the team can provide. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop and implement a vision for delivering high quality analysis at scale, in support of an operational organisation.
Your job will involve
Leading a team of 20-30 staff, with direct reports of 4-5, to develop their skills and overseeing delivery while ensuring balanced workload and team well-being.Overseeing the planning and delivery of new reporting requirements, ensuring that the reporting strategy is consistent with organisational priorities.Ensuring reporting outputs are delivered to best practice standards of data visualisation with a consistent look and feel for team products.Making sure the maintenance and improvement of existing reporting as well as running a scheduled process to identify work that can be stopped.Ensuring that work is overseen and delivered in a structured way, making best use of work management tools including Trello and identifying and implementing opportunities to improve.Collaborating with colleagues within Analysis & Performance and across HMCTS and the Ministry of Justice to ensure high quality products.Ensuring that work is well documented with business continuity plans in place.Leading engagement with internal customers to understand their needs, advise on solutions and manage expectations.Attending senior level meetings to provide updates and insight on trends in HMCTS data.Being a part of the HMCTS Analysis and Performance team leadership, contributing to development of strategy and problem-solving.Contributing to the corporate development of the team and the wider Finance, Governance and Performance directorate with active involvement in a corporate priority.Ensuring that the team delivers to timeframes required by Parliamentary Questions and Freedom of Information requests.Ensuring that team outputs adhere to the Statistics code of practice and the government Aqua Book.Deputising on occasion for the Deputy Director, Head of Insights & Analysis.Essential skills and experience
