If you have experience of managing a successful IT department at a senior level within an HEI or similar environment and are looking for a challenging role in a unique location, we’d love to hear from you! We are searching for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and conscientious talented IT individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction to lead our IT department.
You will provide broad technical expertise and direction to a team of conscientious individuals to advance the RVC’s strategy, mission and objectives. The RVC is a world leading, distinctive, vibrant, and welcoming place to learn, live, and develop and the IT Director will need to be forward-thinking to provide thought leadership and strategic oversight for all facets of the comprehensive information technology program.
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Services, the IT Director will support the academic mission and improve the overall operational effectiveness and efficiency of the RVC by leveraging technology. In doing so, you will need to foster innovation and excellence, support world-class research and creative works and enhance business systems to improve effectiveness and communication across the organisation.
The RVC is ranked as the World’s number one institution for veterinary science and our next IT Director will need to bring an expansive vision of technology in supporting the mission of the college and execution of both the IT strategic & investment plans.
Alongside effective communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate significant and relevant leadership and management experience, in an academic setting or similar organisation of comparable size and complexity. You will need to be a highly effective and broadly knowledgeable information technology leader with demonstrable strengths in applications, infrastructure, service management, project management, and processes.
The role will require a highly flexible approach to cover out-of-hours planned and reactive requirements. You will reside within easy commuting distance of our Hertfordshire campus and occasionally travel to other RVC and customer affiliated sites as required. The RVC offers hybrid working, the opportunity to work from home for 2 days week.
