About the Team

We create and deliver ground-breaking R&D and robust technological capabilities to generate data-driven insights on existing and new risk pools, and the economic context within which we operate.

While most of your peers and key partners are based in Zurich, the team is composed of an international workforce based in different locations, from the UK to Bangalore, and serving a global customer basis.

About the Role

You will work in a multi-functional environment with projects spanning the entire breadth of Swiss Re's business, from Life and Health to Natural Catastrophes. As a Data Engineer in SRI you will be part of a team working on the delivery of complex data assets that underpin the research and underwriting excellence of Swiss Re.

Key responsibilities

Implement data pipelines in collaboration with our data users and other engineering teams

Ensure reliability, data quality and optimal performance of our data assets

Transpose complex business and analytics requirements into high-quality data assets

Deliver high-quality code, focusing on simplicity, performance and maintainability

Where applicable update existing data pipelines to leverage the newest technologies and best practices

Work with solution engineers, data scientists and product owners to deliver end to end products

Support our partners with proof-of-concept initiatives and data related technical questions

About You

Have 0-2 years of experience or graduated recently

Excellent software engineering skills and proficiency in at least one programming language, Python preferred

Knowledge of at least one data manipulation tool/language. Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks (PySpark) would be huge plus

Strong understanding of data modelling and data architecture concepts

Knowledge of CI/CD processes as well as data testing and monitoring

Working knowledge of advanced analytics (i.e. Machine Learning, Statistics) is a plus

Ability to work effectively in teams with both technical and non-technical individuals

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner to non-technical audiences

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficient in English, other languages are a plus

Experience in insurance/reinsurance or financial industry is a plus
