The Estates and Facilities Department at the University of Nottingham provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings, and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1200 people and provide a wide range of services across our UK sites.
We are looking for an experienced, creative and motivated Landscape Services and Sports Operations Manager to join our award winning Landscape and Sports Grounds Team at the University of Nottingham.
The successful candidate will lead the Grounds team, manage external contractors and will have responsibility for all external sports facility development and maintenance across all University of Nottingham UK Campuses.
You will advise and support on a wide range grounds maintenance issues, developing and maintaining maintenance work schedules and will produce a work study analysis of Sports Grounds to ensure the correct level of staffing, machinery and materials are maintained. You will also analyse and interpret Grounds data and will provide specialist advice to the Landscape and Grounds Manager identifying gaps in provisions and making recommendations for improvements as required. A large part of this role will also include the day to day management of the Grounds team which will include monitoring work, carrying out appraisal conversations and ensuring the team receive the appropriate development opportunities to ensure they continue to have the required skills to carry out tasks.

Candidates should be qualified to A minimum level 3 BTEC Certificate or GMA Advanced National Certificate in Sports and Amenity Turf Management or equivalent qualification in sports turf maintenance and management and have extensive prior experience of managing sports facility maintenance works including the production of risk assessments and method statements. Proven experience of managing a team and extensive experience of practical health and safety management are also essential for this role.
This position is offered on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
