We are the Environment Agency. We protect and improve the environment. Acting to reduce the impacts of a changing climate on people and wildlife is at the heart of everything we do. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife. All our work is supported by data. It informs our strategies and influences actions, for ourselves and those we work with. Working in the corporate data management function, you will directly improve how we operate and how we connect people to the environment through data.We need you to manage a small, expert team with a focus on managing, developing and delivery of our ETL service and our address look up capability within our broader Data Management remit. Working in collaboration with other National Leads, business custodian and their technical experts and colleagues in Data, Digital and IT Service (DDTS) group based in Defra, you will use your background in data management, data integration or data engineering, to help us shape the direction of our current services, deliver funded projects, and contribute to our wider transforming data management vision. You are skilled at influencing people and outcomes, getting buy in from others and building relationships. You have a proven track record of effective implementation and delivery balancing efficiency and pragmatism against the risks of getting it wrong. You are forward thinking and can demonstrate how use your network to promote and support delivering your work and strategic outcomes.You will back this up with experience and understanding of how data is created, managed, and used, as well as data integration standards, techniques and software (ideally FME server) and ideally with environmental data.You can show experience in delivering work through others. Ideally with some existing line management experience. You are an advocate for personal development and have experience of helping other to develop personally and technically through coaching, mentoring, and shaping development plan to build team resilience and develop future skills.
