POLICE STAFF/639/B - RMU Planner - Resource Management Unit - Operational Support

A new opportunity has arisen within the Resource Management Unit for a Resource Planner based at Beds HQ.

If successful, you will be working as part of a small but dedicated team supporting Bedfordshire Police in the forward planning of duties for both officer’s and staff. To ensure Bedfordshire Police maintains sufficient departmental and operational staffing levels to deliver the force strategic and tactical objectives, delivering an effective and efficient obligation to the public and colleagues.

The role requires an individual who can problem solve, forecast resourcing, recognise shortfalls in resources and resolves problems having a working knowledge of Police Regulations the Police Staff Handbook and relevant policies.

The individual will record and actively resolve issues that arise from annual leave, sickness, court warnings, training abstractions, postings and shift pattern variances using the CARM system.

They will be required to manage resourcing of operations that could be either spontaneous or pre-planned, that at times can be very time critical and require a full understanding of the impact on normal business, overtime budgets and welfare of officers and staff.

Allocation of staff and officers to training having consideration for the impact of abstractions from planned duties utilising iLearn and communicating with training leads and departmental heads.

Applications are invited from candidates who are highly motivated team players, with the ability to work with minimal supervision using your own initiative. By having excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be a point of contact for all officers and staff and will be required to work under pressure whilst maintaining a professional, courteous, diplomatic, tactful yet at times assertive manner with a can-do attitude. Always having consideration to Bedfordshire Police’s “Be You” programme.

Attention to detail and accuracy of work are therefore necessary, together with the skills and ability to organise and manage workloads. Training will be provided to the successful candidate, but experience in a similar role is advantageous, but not essential. However, the candidate must be IT literate, with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

This post is full time and works under the Bedfordshire Flexitime scheme and offers after achieving a satisfactory level of competence (no sooner than 6 months in post). Staff are required as a matter of necessity due to the nature of the role be able to be flexible with their working hours to deal with urgent resource requirements at very short notice.

At times, you will need to visit other locations across the Bedfordshire Police estate and support at times Operational Planning and Support with additional logistics.
