As a flood and coastal risk management senior advisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing both strategic and technical direction to the team, managers, customers and partners as well as leading long-term place based strategic investment plans, strategies and partnership funding initiatives supporting our ambition of a nation resilient to flooding and coastal change. Key areas of responsibility will include: • Working closely with the team leader translating the ambitions set out in the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for England 2020 and FCERM Strategy Action Plan to manage flood risk and coastal change including adapting to a changing climate. • Overseeing and leading the current and building future flood and costal risk management capital programmes.• Creating new partnerships and securing partnership funding outcomes for the benefit of delivering future flood risk management outcomes. • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with other Risk Management Authorities, infrastructure providers, landowners and farm managers.• Providing advice on complex or reputational issues to partners and customers on behalf of the organisation.• Helping identify cross-cutting issues and opportunities to deliver flood and coastal erosion risk management improvements as well as supporting growth and infrastructure development. You will have: • Proven experience influencing internal and external partners/stakeholders to develop a strategic approach and deliver the best outcomes for people and communities.• A track record of building effective working relationships with others.• Proven experience in taking complex decisions with a reputational risk; often acting as the public face of your organisation in justifying those decisions with others.• The ability to combine your understanding of hydrological and geomorphological processes along with strategic flood and coastal risk management, to identify risks and provide innovative outcomes.• High level of understanding & experience working in the flood risk management sector and related disciplines. • Good negotiation and persuasion skills and ability to achieve successful outcomes. • Ability to technically coach and mentor others. • Flexibility to the needs of the organisation and new ways of working.
