The Role

We are recruiting a Physical Security Lead to be part of our warm and collaborative Security and Information Group (SIG), where you will be responsible for delivering on physical security across all functions across the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).

This is an exciting and meaningful opportunity to join the Government Security Profession, working at the heart of Government and playing a significant part in ensuring the department is meeting its wide ranging obligations. The role is also part of the wider Government Security Profession; a community with a mandate to establish transformation, and responsibility for an entirely new security model.

The Physical Security Lead supports the Chief Security Officer (CSO) fulfill departmental security responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Security Adviser (SA), this role will:

Lead and enable the delivery of Physical Security on behalf of MoJ and its Executive Agencies. Lead the adoption and implementation of appropriate/proportionate Physical Security controls, policies, processes and guidance, with input from internal and external stakeholders as required. Support the Chief Security Officer and Security Advisor (SA) with requirements capturing, commissioning and monitoring of physical security services provided by the shared-service provider. Lead on physical security risk assessments; ensuring they are conducted and documented.Responsible for delivering and managing access to higher tier IT systems and the provision of support to Private Offices in relation to higher classification informationProviding threat assessments for large sites, major events or ministerial visitsLiaison with other Government departments / agencies, police, security services and National Technical AuthoritiesLead investigations of unauthorised disclosureCommand and control during critical incidents involving emergency services and business continuityEnable the adoption and implementation of effective security risk management (of potential threats, vulnerabilities and impacts) and appropriate risk mitigation, reducing Physical Security risks to an acceptable level, with input from internal and external stakeholders as required.

Person Specification

Understanding of physical security and risk, as well as a willingness to develop knowledge in these areas as appropriate whilst recognising future risks and strategically planning to mitigate them.Experience of engaging, advising and influencing at all levels of an organisation whilst projecting credibility and self-assurance.Strong understanding of security and risk mitigation concepts and language, and ability to distil into plain English.Ability to form excellent relationships within your department and with the wider security community.Being able to shift context across a wide range of subject matters, and between strategic thinking and hands on delivery.Managing a wide range of issues with diplomacy and discretion.Building relationships and trust easily with people at different levels of an organisation.Proactive and efficient with the ability to deliver at pace.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Proven ability to form, lead and manage diverse teams and build effective relationships across organisational boundaries based on credibility and trust; Excited by and interested in security.

Essential

Meets the requirements for BPSS clearance.DV security clearance or willingness to obtain

Desirable

An understanding of governance procdures within a security and risk environment.Experience in planning protection operations for senior members of GovernmentExperience of being an intelligent customer buying services from shared service providers.A member of a recognised security professional body

Successful candidates who meet the required standard will then be invited to a 45-minute interview held via video conference.
