Here at Babcock International, we are looking for a new Strategic Programme Procurement Specialist within our Babcock Devonport Central Services business unit. In this role, you will play an integral part of the Future Logistics team responsible for the transformation and development of an offsite logistics capability. Moreover, this will involve working with a variety of departments to ensure effective spend management within wider construction framework, alongside managing a series of high value and complex individual projects. This will include freight and transport, local area warehouse distribution and raw material provision. Other associated responsibilities include potential outsourcing following assessment of make vs buy decisions.

Who we are looking for?

As a successful Procurement Specialist, you will utilise your procurement experience and strong commercial acumen in making proposals that will enable a transformative approach to the delivery of procurement activities and project delivery. This will also include the application of best practice procurement principles and being able to effectively influence, in relation to leading change initiatives.

What will you be doing?

Negotiating and managing subcontractors relationships Leading high value, complex sub-contracts Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and communicate them effectively Understanding and negotiating terms and conditions Lead the change initiative and working well within the wider team as well as alone and often under pressure/ time constraints Applying best practise procurement principles/ techniques

The experience you’ll bring

MCIPS or equivalent qualification (preferred) NEC contract knowledge (preferred) Strong commercial acumen (essential) Proven ability to negotiate and manage subcontractors (essential) Understanding of terms & conditions and negotiating changes (essential) Excellent supplier relationship management (essential) Logistics outsourcing experience (highly desirable) You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
