We are looking for experienced project managers to manage development and delivery of projects to build our evidence base and contribute to reducing the impact on the environment of chemicals manufacture, use and disposal. Technical input will be provided by relevant technical specialists so you do not need a chemicals background - your role is to provide the project management expertise and to use your experience to support and advise others.Chemicals is a fast -paced, cross-cutting area of our work and you will need to develop and deliver several projects at the same time, within relatively short timescales and strict deadlines. You will ensure projects have clear objectives, deliverables and milestones, understand dependencies with other projects/work areas and ensure wider impacts and risks are considered and communicated.You must be a confident and experienced project manager who can work effectively independently and as part of a team to achieve this. You will work with technical specialists and stakeholders across the Chemicals Programme and other parts of the Environment Agency, and with external stakeholders such as Defra, Natural England and industry stakeholders, so you need to be confident in building relationships and developing networks to deliver at pace. You will:-be an experienced project manager with at least 2 years experience leading project delivery-have experience of working with multiple internal and external project partners to deliver key projects / work packages-have experience of planning resource needs and/or managing project budgets -be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and respond to unforeseen challenges-have strong teamworking, communication and influencing skills-have good decision-making and problem-solving skills -be able to build good working relationships and work collaboratively with external partners to develop and achieve agreed objectives-be keen to improve the way we work and develop othersExperience in some of the following areas would be beneficial:-Procuring and managing contractors/consultants -Developing/reviewing business cases -Process mapping-Benefits mapping/value chain mappingHaving completed relevant project management training would be advantageous, although project management qualifications are not essential.
