We’re looking for enthusiastic, proactive team members to support delivery of work across the Hazardous Waste, Operator Returns and Pollution Inventory regimes within the Waste & Industry Regulatory Services (WIRS) departmentWIRS is committed to data excellence; we collate, analyse, and use our technical expertise to interpret data, which informs regulation, enforcement, and legislation.You will need good organisational and data management skills, with the ability to prioritise your tasks effectively, manage a varied workload and meet appropriate deadlines. You will be providing support to the unit in delivering regulatory activities and providing direction for our area-based teams, under supervision of subject matter experts. The ability to work in teams and provide excellent customer service is key to these roles. The job will be within WIRS, part of Operations Regulatory Service (ORS) based with other National teams at Sheffield. We work flexibly including from home or any Environment Agency hub office but attendance at the Sheffield office will be required on occasion. This will be agreed with the Team Leader. You will require good written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to follow written processes and use different digital tools.Relevant work experience would be an advantage, however being able to demonstrate the following list of skills will be important:• Ability to compare data sets to spot patterns and potential errors• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external customers• Competent use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access• Working co-operatively as part of a team to achieve common goals• Deliver work to high quality standards• Be comfortable working in a virtual team environment.
