You will help deliver Remote Sensing Products using data from a variety of different sources, such as intertidal habitat maps using aerial photography and other open spatial datasets.Your knowledge of remote sensing data could include Satellite (SAR/Optical), Airborne (LIDAR/optical/hyperspectral), Marine (bathymetry) or Drone data. There may be some requirement to collect and use ground data alongside these data sets. You will work closely with colleagues in a small team, using your remote sensing knowledge & GIS skills to deliver key projects for the Environment Agency. The job role will cover varying tasks including for example: • Intertidal and coastal habitat mapping from optical imagery. Specifically, Saltmarsh and Opportunistic Macro Algae monitoring. • Asset management data evaluation using remotely sensed LIDAR data.• Data processing with good data management practices.• Satellite imagery analysis, environmental monitoring projects and potentially incident response. The role will suit someone with a keen interest in coastal habitat mapping. You will have a relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
