Research Assistant (Qualitative Methods in Neonatal Medicine) (Fixed term, part time) (MED

Job at University of Nottingham in Nottingham, Nottingham, NG7

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Research Assistant who, with support, will lead participant recruitment of parents of preterm babies and healthcare professionals, and qualitative data collection and analysis, to evaluate the implementation of a care bundle to improve mother’s own milk feeding and rates of necrotising enterocolitis (life threatening gut condition), across 11 neonatal units in the East Midlands.

Working collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team, you will lead the planning and delivery of qualitative interviews with parents and healthcare professionals from the 11 neonatal units involved in the evaluation and analyse and report findings. The ability to adapt approaches to engage potential participants to encourage participation is important. You will then work with the wider research team to consider these findings in relation to other work packages forming part of the evaluation.

You must hold a degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. child health, psychology, social sciences) OR have relevant vocational experience working in a neonatal or child health setting. You must have experience of working with parents/families of children who are unwell; the ability to build relationships and collaborate with others (internally and externally) is essential. You must have experience of collecting and analysing qualitative data in a neonatal or child health setting.

At the University of Nottingham, we are committed to providing generous employment packages whilst supporting the well-being and development of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a university employee, you will have an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and a highly attractive pension scheme.

This is a part time (22.5 hours), fixed term post to 30th April 2024.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Manpreet Bains. Email: manpreet.bains@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
