Research Assistant (Quantitative Methods in Neonatal Medicine) (Fixed term, part time) (MED

Job at University of Nottingham in Nottingham, Nottingham, NG7

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Research Assistant who, with support, will undertake management and analysis of quantitative data derived from routinely-collected electronic patient care records, to evaluate the implementation of a care bundle to improve mother’s own milk feeding and rates of necrotising enterocolitis (life threatening gut condition), across 11 neonatal units in the East Midlands.

Working collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team, you will clean and analyse data from the National Neonatal Research Database (NNRD), employing techniques including logistic regression and interrupted time series analysis, to evaluate the impact of the care bundle. You will then work with the wider research team to consider these findings in relation to other work packages forming part of the evaluation.

You must hold an undergraduate, and preferably a Master’s, degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. epidemiology, medical statistics or quantitative research methods). You must have excellent data management, analysis and programming skills in a package such as Stata or R and have demonstrable experience of working with large datasets of routinely-collected electronic patient healthcare data.

At the University of Nottingham, we are committed to providing generous employment packages whilst supporting the well-being and development of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a university employee, you will have an excellent choice of benefits and rewards, including access to fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and a highly attractive pension scheme.

This is a part time (22.5 hours), fixed term post to 30th April 2024.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Lisa Szatkowski. Email: lisa.szatkowski@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
