The Role: Security & Resilience Manager

Duration: Fixed term - to January 2024

Location: Flexible – to support the Humber region; Hull, Immingham, Grimsby and Goole

Purpose:

Provide advice, guidance and assistance on operational security issues (including physical security, personal security, political risk, and travel security), through cost-effective solutions for the protection of staff and company assets from risk, theft, damage, corruption and compromise.

Study, interpret and advise ABP Humber staff on security risks

Accountabilities:

Working with the Head of Compliance to lead, manage and develop the security department within the compliance function and assist the development of a robust, comprehensive security strategy and capability for the Humber consistent with the overall ABP Group Security Strategy. Responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing compliance of relevant security, emergency and business continuity plans. Liaise with the enforcing authorities, law enforcement and intelligence agencies as well as the Local Resilience Forum on matters relating to security, emergency and business resilience planning and response. Engaging with ABP Humber employees and port users to create a strong security culture that recognises local ownership of risk management at all levels and strives to deliver a safe, beyond zero-harm working environment Initiate, develop and implement security campaigns/solutions to promote secure working practices. This includes reacting to intelligence and crimes-in-progress and systems/processes introduced to redress the situation, or proactive to address possible threats/risks. Responsible for the ongoing management, development and training of team members. To undertake appraisals (PDR) and to ensure team members have sufficient knowledge to be able to operate independently on a day-to-day basis. Ensure security, emergency and business continuity inspections and audits are on a planned basis and submit reports to line managers. Assist Compliance Team members in carrying out compliance risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work for security and response practices and advising where necessary including the Humber Marine Teams in compliance with Port Marine Safety Code. Ensure suspicious activity or criminal activity is investigated thoroughly and recommend countermeasures to prevent recurrence where necessary. Develop and deliver security, emergency response and recovery training in accordance legislative and good practice requirements

About you:

You will always act as an ambassador for ABP - clearly living and demonstrating the company’s vision and values. You should have a flexible approach to travel as it’s important to be ‘visible’ in a disparate region comprising sixteen ports. You will have all the attributes of a good leader; the ability to influence and be effective across all levels of management, with discretion, diplomatic discussion and dialogue. However, the real key to success in this role is an ability to collaboratively but robustly challenge accepted norms and ‘the way we have always done things around here’. Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

Security Risk management experience, skills and knowledge achieved through a similar role, or through leadership of a business unit in a comparable industry. Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, commensurate with influencing members of the Board and senior management team without direct authority. High levels of numeracy and literacy

Ideal

A relevant qualification involving aspects of security and emergency planning management
