There is an exciting opportunity to join the Analysis and Reporting team in the North East of England, as a Senior Environmental Monitoring Officer covering our Marine responsibilities. This is a small team, working hard with colleagues and customers to create a better place by protecting and enhancing diverse habitats and wildlife. The successful candidate will have an excellent and demonstrable knowledge of Marine and intertidal ecology and legislation and be able to demonstrate their ability to communicate and influence a range of internal and external customers. As part of the role you will:• Provide technical advice into relevant Environment Agency programmes, plans and projects to ensure compliance with legislation as well as habitat creation.• Provide technical input into statutory consultations, including planning applications and flood risk activity permits. • Work with customers and partners, as well as internal colleagues, to identify opportunities to enhance and create intertidal and coastal habitats.• Work with Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology colleagues to identify and influence opportunities to deliver multiple benefits for the environment and to work with natural processes. • Respond to environmental incidents• Provide technical support, leadership and mentoring to the wider team We are seeking a Senior Environmental Monitoring Officer (Marine) with extensive field and desk-based experience in estuarine and coastal biology and ecology. This role undertakes the majority of the marine statutory consultation work in the North East, and you must be experienced in giving expert advice on planning applications and marine licence applications, for activities such as dredging.You will have a degree or experience in a relevant discipline and a full UK driving license.You should also have:Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence a broad range of customersExcellent motivation and adaptability in delivering prioritiesThe ability to build, develop and nurture relationshipsA track record of collaborating with others to deliver shared prioritiesDemonstrable skill and experience in leadership and mentoring.
