Each senior will be aligned to one of our programme Boards and will lead on the planning of a Pipeline, look at strategic solutions that can be developed for the type of procurement generated by the programme and provide procurement support to project managers.
This work is done alongside Defra Group Commercial who provide Commercial Service over our delegation. We are currently working with Defra to increase our delegation and adopt new technology and procedures to improve catalogue use and requests for quotation. This will result in a period of change and additional support for our colleagues whilst they become familiar with this new way of working.
We are looking for someone experienced in procurement, who has worked in the public sector and would like to make a difference in the way Natural England staff interact with the guidance/process and governance that applies to our work.
We are looking for someone who is part or fully qualified to MCIPS Level 6 or equivalent. We are prepared to support the cost of completing your qualifications.
We work alongside Defra Group Commercial who delegate procurement lower-level procurement to Natural England staff to complete on a self-service basis. This is a mixture of commercial and partnership arrangements with our project managers who are technical experts in conservation, planning, landscape management and scientific research.
Our Team will inform opportunities to develop new catalogues and frameworks to suit our operational delivery, seek longer term relationships with valued partners and suppliers and feed into investment decisions and Business Planning in Natural England. Working with Defra Group Commercial to improve capability in NE in self service procurement and contract management.

We understand that this is a competitive market, and we are prepared to assist part qualified applicants with completing their training. Whilst it is NE’s policy to appoint at salary minimum a higher starting salary within the pay range may be considered for exceptional candidates.
