Specialist - Monitoring programmes (NCEA)

Monitoring Programme Technical Services (MPTS) provides national once activities for the monitoring community. We support the full range of monitoring programmes and activities - from nationally defined programmes such as eutrophic status monitoring and biota samples for EQSD, to locally defined programmes that use a range of monitoring methods. We cover habitat, fish and plant surveys, invertebrates and water quality.Natural Capital Ecosystems Assessment (NCEA) is an exciting and longsighted set of monitoring programmes to assess the state of our environment. This specialist role in MPTS will lead the Monitoring Collection work package within the wider NCEA project.This role focusses on operational delivery, taking the NCEA monitoring network designs and turning them into an integrated, efficient and deliverable programme. Duties will include;-Providing technical subject matter expertise to the programme and delivery teams,-Defining the roles and responsibilities of the work package team members,-Coordinating delivery at the work package level.And may also include;- planning and running training courses,- optimising the programme and tracking its delivery.The successful applicant will need the flexibility to cover other types of programmes within MPTS’s remit as required. • You will provide expert technical leadership to Area monitoring teams through training, guidance, optimisation and assurance of delivery.• You will build and maintain strong relationships, problem solve and deliver through others to ensure that monitoring and assessment requirements are completed efficiently and on time.• You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable engaging with staff at all levels and be adaptable to take on new work areas. • You will have good data management skills to be able to maintain datasets essential to the management of our monitoring programmes.• You will have good influencing skills to ensure the right people are carrying out the right activities in the right way. • You will work both independently and collaboratively to solve problems with delivery.• You will be adaptable and able to respond to short term changes in priority.
