Specialist Project Worker

Thurrock Homelessness Service

£13.03

35 hours per week – Various shifts Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm, to include occasional weekends

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Project Worker to join our Thurrock Homelessness Service. The service consists of two homeless hostels within the Thurrock area. We house homeless clients from the age of 16+ that come from a wide range of backgrounds with complex needs.

Shifts:

Core hours will be 1 shift of 2pm-9pm and 4 shifts of 9am-4pm with a need for flexibility depending on service requirements

In this role, you will be supporting vulnerable clients to help them achieve independent living skills to move on into the local community and supporting and developing the staff team and service delivery. An important part of this role will be working jointly with housing solutions to support homelessness clients and accommodation, tenancy sustainment and rent reduction.

The role of Specialist Project Worker will include:

Always ensuring the smooth daily running of the service and to promote the service effectively to others Managing a team of Project Workers Recruiting, developing, and training staff within appropriate legislative or NVQ frameworks and devising effective and well-run staff rotas Working closely with staff and clients to deliver a high quality, intensive support service Overseeing and monitoring the quality of risk tools, assessments and personalised support plans Liaising with staff to ensure positive outcomes, with a focus on maintaining tenancies and move on objectives Promoting safe working practices by undertaking risk assessments to support, reduce or eliminate risks Completing and monitoring health and safety checks within the service

Skills and experiences:

NVQ3 in Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards Proven experience of working with a similar client group is essential Previous housing related support is desirable Sound knowledge of housing management including rents, tenancies and health and safety Good understanding of occupancy agreements The ability to work on your own initiative and to react effectively under pressure
