Then come and work in the Environment Agency’s Sustainable Business, Net Zero & Circular Economy team. You’ll help keep us at the forefront of delivering for the climate emergency by:- Recommending and implementing the approach for the EA to take on Net Zero, developing delivery plans, including how we’ll track and assess performance. Some specifics include:- Leading our work to integrate carbon into our decision making- Leading on Scope 3 emissions reporting/reductions- Working with existing suppliers to improve their performance on sustainability- Reviewing the organisation’s existing processes/procedures; working with others to revise/develop these to ensure Net Zero is integrated.- Providing specialist advice to colleagues to mitigate Net Zero risks to ensure decisions are technically sound and aligned with legal and EA frameworks.- Reporting/communicating progress on the EA’s Net Zero commitments, including commissioning and utilising relevant evidence/data. The key competences are: - Significant experience of Net Zero implementation, evolving policy and frameworks such as SBTI- Experience of delivering packages (projects) of Net Zero work eg Carbon Budgeting- Understanding of how to integrate Net Zero within a business context, through sound judgement, engagement, networking, and relationship-building. - Substantial experience of working with supply chains to tackle Scope 3 emissions- Ability to work at pace, in a calm and focussed fashion, within a rapidly changing Net Zero context, with multiple deadlines/priorities. - Understanding of how to use Net Zero data/insight to monitor progress, and present evidence in the best way to influence key stakeholders.- Previous line and project management experience is desirable but not essential.- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in resource optimisation. Membership of professional association/institute (such as IEMA) desirable.
