You will guide our work to successfully influence major projects and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs). As a senior member of the team, you will coach and mentor others to deliver a quality planning service ensuring development happens in the right place and with the right environmental infrastructure to deliver environmental protection and enhancement. You will enable the team to reply to planning consultations to manage flood risk, improve and restore rivers, manage waste, protect our groundwater from pollution and safeguard future supply, renew flood defences, and adapt to a changing climate.You use your skills and knowledge of the land use planning system to:• Continue to increase our levels of strategic engagement and catchment working across south London• Provide guidance to the rest of the team on providing a positive planning service focused on delivering environmental outcomes and good practice development • Work across London with technical teams to provide a positive planning service to councils and developers You will be qualified to degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and/ or have experience of working in the Town & Country Planning system.You will have:• Experience of successfully influencing local plan polices and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIAs) for major projects• A positive attitude and proactive approach to deliver continual improvement and celebrate and learn from good practice• Knowledge of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and other environmental consents required for major projects• Experience of successfully managing major projects / NSIPs to deliver environmental protection and enhancement • Excellent customer service skills to deliver a quality planning service to deliver our environmental goals • Good project management and influencing skills to deliver an outcome focused planning service • Partnership working experience and ability to negotiate and identify shared goals and objectives • Coaching and mentoring skills to help others develop their skills and progress
