As a Symbols Key Account Manager, you will be instrumental in driving commercial success by cultivating robust relationships with key trade partners. This position demands a customer-centric approach, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate business objectives into tangible results. Working collaboratively with the Symbols Manager, you will unlock new opportunities, refine operational strategies with major symbol groups and their buyers, and ensure flawless execution across both independent and organized retail channels. This is a pivotal role that offers the scope to influence a broad and diverse retail landscape.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:

  • Relationship Cultivation: Build and nurture strong, enduring partnerships with Symbol trade partners by deeply understanding their business objectives, challenges, and long-term aspirations.
  • Client Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring prompt resolution of queries and delivering exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Account Management Excellence: Oversee assigned accounts comprehensively, including budget management, accurate forecasting, and optimizing the deployment of financial resources within the Symbol channel.
  • Strategic Performance Reviews: Conduct regular account performance assessments and continually refine contact strategies to achieve objectives and maximize commercial effectiveness.
  • Sales Strategy Execution: Implement targeted sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets within the Symbols channel.
  • Growth Identification: Proactively identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding product or service offerings.
  • KPI Achievement: Deliver against agreed-upon key performance indicators, encompassing Availability, Visibility, Dialogue, Activation, Market Share, and Volume targets for your accounts.
  • Needs-Based Solutions: Conduct thorough needs assessments to tailor solutions that align with both customer requirements and BAT's commercial priorities.
  • Market Insight & Strategy: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities within the Symbol sector, leveraging these insights to refine strategy and uncover new business avenues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as Sales Support, Marketing, and Product Development to ensure seamless execution and a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

  • Proven Account Management Experience: Prior experience in Account or Category Management is essential.
  • Resilience in a Changing Market: The ability to operate effectively in a challenging commercial environment, managing a dynamic account base and balancing customer needs with business objectives.
  • Strategic Alignment: A strong capability to embody and drive the Company Vision and strategy.
  • Ambitious Target Setting: The ability to set and achieve ambitious targets for yourself, your team, and your customers.
  • Brand and Trade Marketing Acumen: Good knowledge of Brand and Trade Marketing principles, with a solid understanding of customer strategy, structure, KPIs, and potential.
  • Exceptional Communication & Negotiation Skills: High-level communication and negotiation abilities, coupled with the capacity to develop innovative solutions in response to market conditions.
  • Retail Landscape Expertise: A deep understanding of consumer behavior and the UK Retail landscape, including the strategic role of accounts within the broader market.
  • Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical skills and general commercial awareness.
  • Driving License: A full driving license is required.
  • Educational Background: A university degree is preferred.
