As a Team Member 3 your role is mostly office and depot based but will at times be hands-on and involve working outdoors in all weather conditions as part of a field-based team.You will look after the equipment and vehicles at your depot, making sure they are stored, inspected, tested, issued, and maintained in an organised way that ensures they’re ready for use – especially when needed for emergency response. As you develop your technical skills in the role, you will support your field-based colleagues on specialist tasks. This will include providing technical support such as safety systems management and waste management and updating IT records when needed. You will be responsible for helping with the procurement of stores and equipment to enable the safe delivery of your team’s work program, along with the day-to-day upkeep of the depot.We act quickly when floods or environmental emergencies occur, so you’ll take part in an emergency call out rota to respond, operating our assets such as pumps, sluices, and flood gates. As part of your role, you will be expected to manage a busy working depot, controlling deliveries and collections.This role is currently available at our Selby Depot. Computer-literacy is essential, particularly with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (or equivalent). You’ll be able to learn new programs and web-based applications easily. You’ll have experience using, or be willing to learn to use, tablet-style computers and mobile technology.Ideally you will have the following skills and personal qualities:•Ability to engage well with others•Being flexible and able to adapt to changing situations or demands of the job•Good communication skills which include contributing your ideas, listening to others and being clear and confident•Able to think quickly and to solve problems and communicate your ideas clearly to others•Work as a team to support others•Skills to organise and manage your time well•Cope well under pressure•You will hold a full UK or EU manual driving licence•You’ll have the energy to motivate and encourage others in your team on site.
