We are looking for a Water Quality Environment Planning Specialist to join our Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team family and make an immediate positive difference to the environment in East Anglia Area.You will be a key member of our water quality team working on a wide range of issues to help us understand and address sources of pollution to protect and improve the environmental status of our rivers and water bodies. Key workstreams include planning and delivery of Price Review 24 (PR24), bathing and shellfish water improvements and the developing challenge of achieving nutrient neutrality. Whilst water quality planning will be your specialism, you will have a broad understanding of environmental issues in the Area and play your part as a technical leader. This includes collaborative working with Area and National teams, delivering multi-functional projects as well as coaching and mentoring colleagues.You will have space to manage your own workload and support innovative and creative solutions to environmental issues.The role can be based from our offices in Brampton, Norwich or Ipswich, however we are adopting new ways of working which allows flexibility to include some working from home. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of our business and environmental activities, complementing strong IT skills. You’ll possess skills in the following areas:• Technical competence in water quality• Effective communication & influencing skills• Good organisational skills, with the ability to plan, track, evaluate and deliver to deadlines • Data quality and information management, • Making decisions and solving problemsIdeally you will have a degree in an environmental subject and/or extensive experience of water quality and environmental issues, ideally in the East of England. A post-graduate qualification would be an advantage along with project management skills and experience.There are fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications.The Environment Agency take part in incident response. You’ll be encouraged to get involved and support depending on your role and circumstances. Full training will be provided.
